Polycentric Andhra Pradesh
The increased urbanisation may have several impacts on Natural resourses, Social sustainability, Identity-localness (tangible and intagible cultural values), existing infrastructure, energy use and economy of the country. Urban expansion has brought serious losses of agriculture land, shrub , barren land and water bodies. Urban sprawl is responsible for a variety of urban environmental issues like decreased air quality, increased runoff and subsequent flooding, increased local temperature, deterioration of water quality, etc.
Urban Andhra Pradesh has most jobless men. Unemployment amongst urban males in AP stood at 4.1 per cent for the period July 2011 to June 2012, higher by far than its counterparts, while that among females in urban areas is about 6.6 per cent. Overall unemployment rate in urban areas in the state stands at 4.7 per cent. AP bagged the dubious distinction of beating the other three southern states in unemployment. Experts believe that the high unemployment rate could be linked to downward trend in construction activity in cities like Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam around 2010.
The groundwater level report said groundwater levels in the state is falling fast. Andhra Pradesh has fallen 12 metres below ground level in the past year. Andhra Pradesh is divided into 40 drainage basins and 81 sub basins of major and minor rivers. The 81 sub basins are divided into 1,229 groundwater micro basins of 100-300 sq km area based on drainage, geomorphology and hydrogeology.
The fall of groundwater cannot be pegged to one cause (borewells). It is the result of deficit and infrequent rain, reduction in recharge area and lastly, over exploitation.
Administrative capital is a city which serves only the purpose of encompassing the offices and meeting places of its respective government. Which also has capital neighbourhood to accommodate the officers.butits been misinterpreted about “new capital of Andhra Pradesh” by comparing/inspiring from wrong examples.
why the focus is on ‘capital city’ only?
People have been questioning about where should be the capital and how to develop the capital city?
Is this the real concern?
Aren’t we repeating the same mistake?
Of course, new capital is important; but it’s a one of the factors. Overall state has to be developed. Which inturn prevent further Regional Discrimination problem.
